Marshall Liberal Government delivers transparency to seafood sector

The Marshall Liberal Government has delivered on another election commitment to the seafood sector as it releases the KPMG report into PIRSA’s cost recovery of fisheries and aquaculture.

Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone said the review undertaken by KPMG into PIRSA’s cost recovery of fisheries and aquaculture made 11 recommendations across a range of areas.

“There is always room for improvement and this is why the Marshall Liberal Government had decided to accept all 11 of KPMG’s recommendations,” said Minister Whetstone.

“The recommendations related to transparency of the timing, costing, reporting and negotiation processes of the cost recovery program and the development of an easy to follow costing framework.

The Government Response sets how we will address each recommendation and sets a deadline to achieve required changes.

“I thank the seafood sector for their participation in the review, where they met with KPMG as a group and individually to provide their feedback. I also thank PIRSA for their work with KPMG throughout the review,” said Minister Whetstone.

“I look forward to working with seafood industry and PIRSA to implement the recommendations of the report to increase transparency into our cost recovery practices.”
