Think local this Christmas to support Riverland and Mallee businesses.

Riverland and Mallee residents are encouraged to think local first this festive season to support small businesses across the region.

Member for Chaffey Tim Whetstone is calling on Riverland and Mallee locals to back our small businesses and bolster local jobs by shopping locally this Christmas.

“Our small business owners are some of the most resilient and hardworking people in the region,” Mr Whetstone said. “Without them, we wouldn’t have our favourite clothing stores, coffee shops, restaurants, wineries and retailers.”

“Riverland and Mallee businesses are facing many challenges at the moment, so every dollar we spend locally in the lead-up to Christmas benefits the region"

"Not only are they the backbone of our communities, but our region’s economy and I think it is vital that we support the people that support us.”

“Small retailers are currently facing enormous pressures – from increased business costs to customer spending slowdown due to cost-of-living pressures.”

“Every additional dollar spent in a local community creates a chain reaction and helps local businesses grow, invest and create jobs.”

“Across the Riverland and Mallee, we have some fantastic retail businesses with plenty of stock and great local service.”

“Whether you’ve got shopping to do or still looking to plan the perfect family lunch, please think local first.”

“By purchasing your holiday spread from the local butcher or buying presents from your local gift shop, you are supporting other families in your community.”

"The best gift we can give to local business this Christmas is our business.”
