The Riverland will take centre stage with the announcement of South Australia’s newest major festival set to start in the Riverland from September 17 to October 9.
Member for Chaffey Tim Whetstone said he was delighted the Riverland had been chosen to host to the Illuminate Adelaide Regional Program.
“This is a world-class event and it’s a huge coup for our region to host the festival in the Riverland” Mr Whetstone said. “It will shine the spotlight on our region and grow our reputation for holding first-class events.”
“The festival will be a great boost to our tourism sector and go towards keeping our economy strong and supporting local jobs, particularly as we rebound from COVID-19.”
“It will provide a boost to hotels, accommodation and businesses and give people another reason to visit our region and witness a world-class event in our backyard.”
Destination Riverland General Manager Ben Patten said it was welcome news.
“Destination Riverland (DR) is delighted that the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) has decided to bring the Illuminate Adelaide Regional Program to the Riverland.,” Mr Patten said. “As the SATC’s ‘local contact’, DR looks forward to working with all parties to deliver an amazing event that benefits the Region as a whole.”
More details of the Illuminate Adelaide Regional Program will be announced later in the year. More information on the festival can be found at www.illuminateadelaide.com
